Tuesday Devo

Read Luke 5:1-11. This story doesn't need much explaining. Just notice two things. First Jesus had time to break from the crowds for some one on one time with his disciple. Jesus always has time and the desire to be with just you. He longs for that intimacy.

Second, notice Jesus didn't call Peter to come follow him until after Peter realized who Jesus was and how undeserving he was. When we understand who Jesus really is - our sin (v. 9) will become very evident to us. We will hate it as we should. But Jesus looks past the shame and sees a humble heart in Peter. Then he knew - this one will serve God well!

questions
1) How does it make you feel to know that Jesus wants to be alone with just you?
2) Peter could have wallowed in shame and not followed Jesus. What things from your past does the enemy of God try to use to make you feel unworthy of following Jesus. (Read Romans 8:31-39)
3) The moment we become a Christian Jesus invites us to follow him on a mission of loving others in the same way he invited Peter, "from now on you will catch men." What mission of love does God have you on?

prayer
(Adoration) Father I praise you for the beauty of the snow falling outside. I praise you that as the designer of creation you didn't make it boring! (Thanksgiving) Father I thank you for my health today and the strength to do my work. Father I also thank yo for....
