Friday Devo

Read Luke 14:15-23

This parable makes several much needed points for us today
# 1 Life is more than what we see - there is an eternal feast the Lord is inviting us to that far outweighs anything we might experience here.

# 2 The Father wants all to come and will invite them. He is the one who draws. His heart is broken when we reject but he will move on to invite others.

# 3 Many will make lame excuses because they don't know what they're missing. Imagine someone offered you a pop tart and then someone offered you a breakfast buffet! Who would choose the pop tart? Many will be deceived by the lures of this world.

# 4 The meal the Lord invites us to is all about intimacy - true intimacy. To eat a meal with someone in Jesus day was a great honor and relational event. The TV wasn't on in the background! Life was discussed and hearts were awakened. The Father is heart broken because when we choose the world over him - it is personal. He's not a distant god out there somewhere without a face or personality. He's real, personal and wants to come make his home with us.

questions
1) who in  your life are you not sure you want in heaven? The father wants them there!
2) if God gave you the opportunity to share your faith today with someone and invite them to eternal life - what would you say to invite them?
3) can you say you have tasted and seen that the Lord is good? What really draws you to Jesus? Are you still living off your parents faith? Do you simply like the social involvement of a church? Who really is Jesus to you?

prayer
Father let us not make excuses. You have made you're heart vulnerable and sometimes we crush it. You are high and lifted up - there is no other god but YOU! You ways are perfect and your laws are just. We honor you today. You give and take away - blessed be the name of the Lord.
