Thursday Devo

Read Luke 5:17-26. The word "accessible" comes to mind with this story. It may not appear so at first because these guys had to work hard to get to Jesus but the reality is - if we want to get to Jesus - we can. These guys would not let any obstacle stand in the way!

We also see an incredible love by these friends of the lame man. The only way people go to that kind of effort is if they truly believe its going to pay off. When I read this story - I almost wonder if those carrying the man had once been healed by Jesus themselves. Those who have personally experienced God always go and find others to taste what they have tasted!

questions

1) Do you feel like you can get to Jesus any time you want to? If not - what is in the way? (time, understanding, fear, desire...?)

2) When have you experienced the power of God in your life? (conviction through a verse or sermon, God providing in moment of need, prayer answered...)

3) Whom has God put in your life that you need to help bring to Jesus with the same passion these guys did? Are you praying regularly for them? Do you know what is holding them back? Do you intentionally go out of your way to be near them, encourage them, love them?

(Adoration) Lord you are the King of Kings, the Great I AM, the First and the Last, the Alpha and Omega. There is no name greater than your name. There is no God who compares to you! (Confession) Lord I confess  my attitude could be more like Christ. I repent of selfishness. Lord help me replace my selfishness with selflessness. (Thanksgiving) I am so grateful that you saved me. That I came to know you and how you have helped me grow in you. I'm thankful for every mentor, preacher, parent, sibling, teacher and coach that pointed me closer to you! (Supplication) Father I ask for help today with..... I pray you would supply my family with protection from the enemy today - deliver us from evil.
